If you have ever lost someone very important to you, then you already know how it feels; and if you haven't, you cannot possibly imagine it.
With cities, it is as with relationships: everything imaginable can be dreamed, but even the most unexpected acquaintance is a perplexity that conceals a desire or its reverse, fear. Cities, like two lovebirds hopelessly in love, are made of desires and fears, even if the thread of their disclosure is secret, their rules are absurd, their perspectives deceitful and everything conceals something else.
